Sal the Tourist: A Long Way from Home

Having never traveled before, it was a bit of a gift that I was able to go to New York and explore. It was time for me to do this. I have pretty much done most everything that I did want to do in New York as a tourist, save for exploring the Metropolitan Museum and Central Park as thoroughly as I would have liked. The greatest part about this trip was that I did it on the cheap. I spent a total less than $400 bucks. (!!!) I have to thank Jashong King for hosting and for showing me around. When he left in May for his internship at NEWSWEEK, I knew I had to come and explore. Jashong's Birthday allowed the perfect opportunity for this.

Thursday:

  • Canal Street
  • Chinatown
  • Little Italy
  • Dinner in Chinatown
  • Time Square, Bar Hop

Friday:

  • Empire State Building
  • Church at World Trade Center Site
  • World Trade Center Site
  • Canal Street
  • Museum of Modern Art
  • Dinner at ESPN ZONE in Time Square
  • W. 4th St. Bars / Bleecker St. Bars

Saturday:

  • Pack up stuff to go to Jashong's Apartment
  • Brooklyn Heights Promenade
  • Frank shows me around
  • Meet Jay at his work at NEWSWEEK
  • Pick up stuff and go to his Apartment
  • Get Drunk (Happy Bday!)
  • Take subway to Bar
  • Get Drunk More
  • Take Taxi Home
  • Pass Out.

Sunday:

  • Get up/Get Ready while Jashong nurses Hangover (haha)
  • Check out apartments for rent
  • The Bitter End
  • See Joey Pantoliano (!!!) walking around

Monday:

  • Go to NEWSWEEK to print out images for Jay's Interview
  • Blog online wirelessly while in Central Park (SWEET!)
  • Go check out another apartment (GHETTO!)
  • Go Eat at FAT SAL'S PIZZA
  • Watch 40-YEAR-OLD VIRGIN (NICE!)
  • Pack up to leave NYC =(
  • Pass Out

Tuesday:

  • Take Subway to Penn Station
  • Flight
  • Get Home
  • Call People
